ShoffnerKalthoff, MES (SKMES) has a Company-run, DOL-approved and certified Apprentice School, which demands detailed record-keeping and information management for all employees/students as they grow from Apprentice to Journeyperson and beyond.
The Training Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining the records for both internal and external tracking, review, and audit for all training across our entire workforce. This role needs someone who can demonstrate great accuracy and timeliness.
The job requires scheduling, classroom preparation, record-keeping, and administration certifying attendance and outcomes. Extensive experience in administration prepares this person to oversee schedules and attendance for every training opportunity. Our Training Support Specialist works with Operations Managers, Human Resources, and Safety to monitor all training events. Provide support for all business decisions related to Training. This position reports to the Director of Training.
PAY: $18 - $22 per hour.
LOCATION: On-site in Knoxville, TN.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule, organize, and coordinate training for all craft workers, apprentices, and tradespeople.
- Maintain records accurately for all training programs that support productivity, efficiency, and quality of craft workers.
- Work closely with the Safety Department to ensure training requirements are achieved and documented.
- Maintain and enter all training records and certifications promptly and accurately in our Learning Management System (LMS).
- Assist with all new hire orientation.
- Orders and maintains stock of all class material.
- Proctor testing as necessary, including apprenticeship math assessments.
- Serves as secondary contact for apprenticeship training program.
- Assist with representing SKMES at school visits, tours, and career fairs.
- Travel to other SKMES offices, if required. We reimburse you for necessary travel expenses.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an administrative or support role.
- Focus in corporate training, HR administration, or executive assistant.
- Demonstrated superior attention to detail and accuracy in your work.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work as self-managed individual.
- Experience in Microsoft Office.
- Experience in event planning and scheduling is a plus.
- Working knowledge of databases and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Superior written and oral communication ability.
- Demonstrate ability to multi-task / prioritize work.
- Demonstrate small group communications and presentations for new hire orientation, apprenticeship classes, and other training initiatives.
