ShoffnerKalthoff MES is continuing to grow and implement new and innovative approaches to support our position as the leading Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Service provider in East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and western North Carolina.  Crucial to supporting that growth is technology that reliably connects all our operations to the support teams locally as well as up to corporate support in Houston, TX.  The SKMES IT System Manager is the key person responsible for maintaining, upgrading and managing software, hardware and networks across our company’s footprint, in multiple job sites in 3 states and five office locations. The Systems Administrator plays a key role engaging with and supporting a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users with a goal of ensuring the technology infrastructure is designed to optimize organizational efficiency.  The satisfaction of resolving immediate and long-term challenges, a desire for efficient use of technology and a passion for customer service will motivate the successful candidate as they play their part keeping all our teams connected, allowing them to deliver to our employees and customers.  

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Fulfill a crucial role as the person most knowledgeable about the importance of technology and connecting all of the company operations and support functions that comprise SKMES.
  • Apply deep knowledge of technology in advising senior leadership to anticipate opportunities and challenges involving technology and security of same.
  • Manage and maintain all aspects of a company's computer infrastructure to include maintaining networks, servers, and security programs, VOIP, broadband systems and other Information Technology systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to company leadership and directly supports end users by handling escalations, resolving user issues, and monitoring the performance of business-critical systems to prevent delays and outages and quickly resolve ongoing issues.
  • Work with leadership and end users to provide clear communication on how upgrades and initiatives will impact business objectives.
  • Responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting all hardware, networking equipment, software applications, property equipment and network support.
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls and upgrade systems with new releases and models.
  • Monitor system performance and maintain systems according to requirements; troubleshooting outages and issues as they arise.
  • Install and configure software / hardware and set up accounts, workstations, and mobile devices.
  • Adept at cooperation with corporate IT help desk team as needed to complete tasks.
  • Assist with installation, configuration and ongoing usability of system hardware and software as well as training employees on its use.
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies.
  • Build an internal knowledge-base with technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies.
  • Ensures licensing compliance for all application software utilized.
  • Monitor mobile device usage and telephone-related costs.
  • Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a system analyst, system administrator or related position and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field; or 5 years of relatable experience in lieu of a degree.
  • MCSA/MCSE certification, preferred.  
  • Ability to manage and deploy network infrastructure (routers, switches, WAPs) across our company footprint, comprised of 5 office locations.  
  • Experience with managing and deploying server infrastructure (Hyper-V, virtual machines, standalone hypervisors, clustered hypervisors).  
  • Considerable knowledge of networking concepts including connectivity, protocols, security, recovery, and diagnostic method 
  • Working knowledge of a variety of operating systems and platforms including, Windows Server 2012/R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Windows 10, Active Directory, Office 365)
